Edith Tiempo

Dr. Edith L. Tiempo, who's a poet, fictionist, teacher and literary critic, is one of the finest Filipino writers living today. She was an international fellow at the State University of Iowa from 1947 to 1950 and earned her doctorate degree in English from the University of Denver in USA. Her works have won numerous prizes from the Don Carlos Palanca Awards in Literature, the CCP literary contest, and the Philippine Free Press literary contest. With her late husband, Dr. Edilberto K. Tiempo, she co-founded the Silliman University National Writer's Workshop, the longest running literary workshop in the country. She was conferred National Artist for Literatue in 1999. She currently resides in Dumaguete City, eagerly waiting for the next batch of fellows who will eventually come to know her as "Mom."
